Outgoing Tourism Northern Ireland Chairman Howard Hastings has urged over 200 tourism conference delegates to take a leading role in strengthening Northern Ireland's presence on the global stage as a new development phase for the industry begins.

He was speaking at Tourism NI’s annual conference, held at the Stormont Hotel in Belfast on Thursday.

A food campaign showcasing a range of restaurants and coffee shops across the Tyrone region has been launched. Taste Tyrone – Treat Yourself, developed by Flavour of Tyrone Good Food Circle, aims to encourage people to not only treat themselves to the fantastic food offers available over the next 14 weeks, but to treat themselves to a unique dining and food experience in Tyrone.

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster today served up a new initiative aimed at giving more tourists an appetite to visit Northern Ireland.

Announcing that next year, 2016, will be Northern Ireland’s Year of Food, the Minister called on everyone to get involved in giving visitors a taste of what makes our local menus so special.

A new pilgrim walking trail linking key Patrician and Christian Heritage sites from Armagh to Downpatrick was launched at Navan Fort in Armagh on 2nd March.

Supported by Tourism NI in conjunction with Armagh, Down, Banbridge and Newry and Mourne District councils, the trail offers an 82 mile pilgrim walk highlighting the life, landscape and legacy of St Patrick.
