The draft Tourism Strategy for Northern Ireland to 2020 provides the strategic direction and targets for Northern Ireland tourism. As part of the delivery of this draft strategy NITB aims to support tourism stakeholders in local regions throughout Northern Ireland in the production and delivery of Destination Development Plans.

Destination Development Plans
NITB aims to support tourism providers and industry stakeholders in nine key destination areas in Northern Ireland by:

Providing best-practise advice, research and insights for input into the creation of destination development plans.

Ensuring the needs of each tourism destination is reflected in the wider tourism strategy development of Northern Ireland at a regional level.

Providing promotional support to the nine destination areas through NITB’s communications channels and marketing campaigns in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Providing strategic marketing advice to support each destination development plan and in turn, promoting relevant elements of each destination within NITB campaigns at a Northern Ireland level.

Develop and implement technology solutions that will transform the provision and distribution of visitor information.

In line with visitor information strategy, support the tourist information provision in each area through training, best practice case studies, and support of the Tourism Information Centre network, etc.

Providing opportunities to access support through NITB Tourism Development Scheme Funding and collaborating with partners and local stakeholders to help access other development funds.

Working with industry and stakeholders to develop, manage and promote national quality assessment schemes which reflect visitors’ requirements and expectations.

Providing a tourism industry development programme in line with the priority needs of partner stakeholders in each destination and at a regional level.
